Jonathan Schwam, the Founder and Principal Architect, established Core 82, Inc. in 1999. The company was founded on the principle of discipline and named in honor of the 82nd Airborne. The essence of Core 82, Inc. stems from the values fostered in basic training: leadership, accountability, teamwork, and the dedication to ensure every mission is a success.
The precision skills learned in the US Army translated to a technical business that prioritizes delivering proactive, not reactive services to clients.

Jonathan Schwam
Founder and Principal Architect
Jonathan Schwam is an expert in critical infrastructure protection and has helped numerous financial, energy and medical firms design, build, secure, and maintain their computer networks.
As a senior infrastructure engineer and architect, he focuses on the company’s technical direction while monitoring and maintaining the effectiveness and scope of the service solutions. Jonathan understands both the technical and business perspectives of information security and this enables him to effectively customize solutions to each individual client’s needs.
Jonathan is a teacher at heart and enjoys taking complicated concepts and put them into a context people understand. He truly enjoys mentoring his staff, as well as the former soldiers and wounded warriors who recently retired from the Army who are looking to re-enter civilian occupations.
After serving as Paratrooper with the US Army 82nd Airborne Division, Jonathan earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Business Administration while attaining multiple technical certifications including Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and Cisco Certified Network Professional Security. Jonathan and his family are based in New York City and he lends his support to Avon’s 40 Mile Walk to End Breast Cancer and Meals on Wheels.
Troy Brumley
Chief Operating Officer
Troy Brumley oversees the logistics, operations, project management, procurement, ticket management, finances, and security for Core 82, Inc. One of Troy’s greatest assets is the understanding that remaining calm and collected garners the most benefits in every situation.
Troy served in the US Army for 24 years and qualified for Ranger, Airborne, Air Assault, Rappel Master, Physical Security and Anti-Terrorism. He was trained in advanced security protocols, as well as personnel and equipment management while serving in the Army’s Military Police – a seamless segue to Core 82, Inc.
Troy earned a master’s degree from University of Maryland in Management Studies. He is a proponent of the Wounded Warrior Program and Heroes on the Water, and regularly volunteers at an animal shelter. He has participated in numerous Spartan races and Tough Mudder obstacle courses, the NYC Half Marathon, and has hiked the Incan Trail in Peru.
Scott Aurnou
Subject Matter Expert: Privacy and Compliance Services
Scott Aurnou, Esq., CISSP, CIPT, CIPP/US, FIP, spent over a decade as a litigation attorney in the NYC area, served as lead counsel for a private client services group at a major investment bank, and has provided consulting, legal and management services to a number of organizations, ranging from multinationals to security and risk management startups. Scott also authored the Introduction to Information Security LiveLessons training series for Pearson Publishing and serves on the Cybersecurity Advisory Board at Rutgers University.
